Technical Operations - Pilot Plant

Duties and responsibilities

  • Independently and precisely perform experimental work within assigned projects, including set up, operation and thorough documentation of experiments

  • Plan and execute experimental trials using various devices and materials, including hazardous chemical substances

  • Support the planning and implementation of scientific projects

  • Perform maintenance and support calibration of manufacturing equipment such as extruders, spray dryers, compression machines, blenders and coating equipment

  • Set up and prepare instruments and equipment for production and trials

  • Carry out cleaning activities on equipment and installations and prepare corresponding reports

  • Ensure that all data generated from experimental work are available, correctly recorded and compliant with Good Documentation Practices

  • Write, update and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and relevant Quality Management (QM) documents

  • Ensure compliance with all agreed RCPE working procedures, including completion of analytical test analyses, equipment log books, SOPs and safety procedures

  • Act as contact person for purchasing of laboratory supplies and chemicals

  • Maintain direct customer contact in the context of technical services

  • Act as main contact and active participant in internal and external laboratory audits

Requirements

  • PhD degree in a natural science with laboratory experience (e.g. chemical engineering, biotechnology, pharmacy, chemistry)

  • Several years of experience in chemical R&D laboratories or pilot plant environments; experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing is an advantage

  • Hands on experience with manufacturing equipment for pharmaceutical applications

  • Knowledge in electrical engineering, physics, biotechnology or process engineering is a plus

  • Very good command of English; German is an advantage

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001; familiarity with ISO 17025 is an advantage

  • High level of safety awareness

  • Independent, reliable working style, strong attention to detail and ability to plan and organise own tasks

  • Strong interest in performing top level, goal oriented research at the interface of basic science and industrial application

  • Professional conduct and communication skills in dealing with international clients, partners and colleagues

  • Interest and experience in performing top-level and target-oriented research at the interface of basic science and industrial application
